Hi Scrappers,

How are you travelling today? I sent my son off to school today - his first day in Grade 2 and my daughter starts high school tomorrow! Where did the holidays go?

I don’t know if you have been watching all the news surrounding CHA Winter 2012 or not but I have and I am so excited about all the goodies coming out soon! There is one product though that has me squealing with excitement! Of course it is the brand spanking new Distress Markers from Tim Holtz!!!! I seriously can’t wait to get my hands on them! Here is a picture of the full set…

Now if you haven’t seen or heard anything about these markers here is a little information about them:

Tim Holtz Distress Markers are water-based inks for coloring, journaling, stamping and more. The dual tip markers are ideal for many coloring techniques.

Distress Markers are available to match the Distress palette of 36 color and White Picket Fence.

• Acid free, non-toxic

 • Available in Distress 37 color palette

 • Use brush tip for coloring, stamping and shading

Tim Holtz has some more information about these pens which you can find here.

I am offering a pre-order for Tim Holtz Distress Markers if anybody is interested. The set of 37 pens will be $110 (which is cheaper than  RRP in America). Please purchase through the website in the Pre Order Section if you are interested. Payments must be received by February 15 as the wholesaler expects stocks by February 20. Orders should be posted at end of month. I am super excited to get them!!!

More Christmas Projects

25 Jan

Hi Scrappers,

It is another warm day today – good opportunity to enjoy the air conditioning and get creative!!!

As you may have realised I really love Christmas and today I have another 2 projects to share with you. I know that Christmas has just come and gone but I find January is a quieter month and perfect for getting those projects finished that kind of fell by the wayside during the previous year!

When Kaiser released their Christmas Standing Words I was very excited and then when they released their Merry Medley I knew that it was a match made in heaven! Here is what I came up with…

All the papers and stickers are from the Merry Medley range which you can find in store HERE. If you would like the Standing Words please let me know and I can get them in for you!

Christmas Frame

24 Jan

Hi Scrappers,

Goodness it is warm today! How are you coping with the weather? Is it hot where you are?

As I promised you last week (ok I know I am a day late) here is a picture of the Kaisercraft Frame that I have been working on. I started this frame last year with the view of making it as a gift for my MIL but I changed my mind and thought I would make something for my home instead (my MIL has downsized her belongings so she has less to dust!). I had already glued paper to it so had to take that off and then start from scratch!

I really enjoyed putting this frame together and am very happy with how it turned out – I love that I coloured the bling with my Tria Markers and made  the wreath out of some old stickers! We have run out of the frames in store but would be happy to order one for you!

Re-purposing Old Supplies!

20 Jan

Hi Scrappers,

I am sooo glad to see the end of the working week – it has been just too busy! Looking forward to getting crafty tomorrow after catching up with the housework!

Now if you are anything like me ( and I hope that you are) you will have a whole heap of things that you bought and have not used! I know that in the excitement of just starting scrapbooking I bought sooo much that really doesn’t fit my style now.  These days I am much more selective about what I purchase and I just buy what I know for certain I will use.

I needed a wreath for the project I have been working on this past week and had a look in my stash and found some CM stickers from the year 2000 and as I looked at them I thought to myself that maybe I could make a wreath from them and I did just that!!!

Here is what I started with…

I punched a circle out of a scrap of cardstock and then cut a rough circle out of the center. The stickers I found were border stickers so I cut them into smaller pieces and set about covering the cardstock ring – see below.

Once I covered the whole ring I cut some other pieces and raised those pieces up on foam squares.

All it needs now is a bow and some berries to complete the look.

Some other tips to try when repurposing your old stickers:

  • inking the edges to make them blend more with your other elements
  • raising them with foam adhesive
  • adding glitter to make them sparkle

There are heaps more ways you can re-purpose older supplies – what will you do with your older supplies that don’t fit your current style?

More Things To Do with Your Trias

18 Jan

Hi Scrappers,

Another hot day and I am so glad to be home! I hope to get some scrapping done tonight in front of the fan!

I have been working on a project and really wanted some red pearls and bling for it but when I looked in my stash I found I had none! And then I remembered that I could use my Tria Pens to permanently change the colour of my pearls and bling with very little effort – you simply colour them in! Here is a picture to show how easy it really is…

After you have coloured I like to leave them for 30 seconds or so and they are ready to use. Here is how they look when dry.

I have used them on my project which I will show you when finished!

Kaisercraft Saturday Sketch

16 Jan

Hi Scrappers,

Oh wow it is hot! I know I am not going to sleep well tonight so thought I would stay up a little later and hopefully it will be cooler when I go to bed!

Today I wanted to share with you a layout I did for Kaisercraft’s Saturday Sketch comp that they run all through the year every Saturday! Each Saturday on their blog they have a sketch and some examples of what their design team created based on that sketch. The brief is to create a layout based on the sketch using at least 70% Kaisercraft products and the prizes for the winners are pretty cool with $50 of product for the winner and $30 for the runner-up.

So here is a pic of the sketch taken from Kaisercraft’s blog…

And here is my take on it…

I haven’t put any photos on it because I plan to use it as the front cover of my travel album. Why don’t you join in the fun – who wouldn’t want to win some Kaisercraft goodies! You can find all the info HERE!

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions!

13 Jan

Hi Scrappers,

I have some very important decisions to make – whatever will I do with my Tim Holtz Configurations?

I wonder if any of you can relate to me even just a little bit? Have you ever bought something scrappy that you just can’t live without but are then too scared to use? I used to be like this in a very BIG way! I would buy things and have to wait for the perfect project or photo or time to use it. I am thankful to be able to say that I am much better about it now. You see I have learnt a couple of things:

  1. By the time you get around to using that favoured product your taste or style may have changed and you find that you don’t like that thing so much any more (yes really)
  2. There is no perfect project in the first place (again yes really)
  3. and in the case of paper I now say to myself ” It is only PAPER” not the end of the world!

I can’t tell you what freedom these things have given me, so much so that tonight I will embark on a project that has me just a little bit scared – Tim Holtz Configurations Boxes! Of course I am scared of stuffing them up, of decorating and then not liking what I have done but I have to remember it is only paper (cardboard) and I can always buy another and try again!

Here is the before shot – I have the smallest set – less daunting that way!

I wonder what will you get out of your stash, throwing caution to the wind and use?

Happy scrapping!

Typo and Resin = Happiness!

11 Jan

Hi Scrappers,

This morning I am getting ready for work and for taking the children to my Mum and Dad’s for a few days – but of course I am reading some blogs and really wishing I could stay home and craft today instead! Oh well work will be good too!

I don’t know about you but I have fallen in love with Typo! I have secretly (well maybe not so secretly) had a long-held love for all things office supplies – I can just go and browse at places like Officeworks or Smiggle but all that changed when I found Typo! On my first trip to Typo I purchased a blank cardboard journal type thing and the lovely Miss Suzan bought one too on the proviso that we would decorate them together! I finally have had time to do it and we spent an enjoyable afternoon decorating last Saturday. Here is what we came up with….

Of course I am absolutely loving the Resin Flowers from Kaisercraft and couldn’t resist adding some to my project!

You can find these lovely flowers in store now – we have the ones pictured as well as some pink.

Anyway must go get ready – don’t want to be late on my first day back!

Happy scrapping!
